University of Kurdistan Researchers Shine in the Top 1% of Most Cited Scientists in the World

The Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) has released the list of the world's top one percent most-cited researchers for the year 1404 (2025-2026). According to this announcement, 1,142 Iranian researchers are included in this prestigious international list, nine of whom are faculty members at the University of Kurdistan.

The primary criterion for selecting these researchers is the number of citations their scientific publications have received. Based on this, researchers whose articles have garnered the highest number of citations in their respective fields are recognized in the top one percent globally.

The Vice-Presidency for Research and Innovation at the university noted that the highly cited Iranian researchers were identified across 22 subject areas in the sciences and social sciences. This report was compiled and analyzed based on data from November 2024 to September 2025.

The highly cited researchers from the University of Kurdistan are as follows:

  1. Dr. Jafar Abdollahzadeh in the field of Plant & Animal Science

  2. Dr. Jalil Fathi in the field of Social Sciences, General

  3. Dr. Hassan Bevrani in the field of Engineering

  4. Dr. Abdullah Salimi in the field of Chemistry

  5. Dr. Ataollah Shirzadi in the fields of Geosciences and Environment/Ecology

  6. Dr. Ghobad Shafiee in the field of Engineering

  7. Dr. Mahmoud Kousheshsaba in the field of Agricultural Sciences

  8. Dr. Himan Shahabi in the fields of Geosciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Engineering

  9. Dr. Kamran Chapi in the fields of Environment and Ecology
